Caleb Quiron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Chad Boyd fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympiakos's protests and gave Chad Boyd a yellow card for diving instead. When Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Iphikles Papadakos in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Olympiakos's goalie prevented a goal. In the 23rd minute, Don Whaley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Iphikles Papadakos put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lincoln Grondin. In the 31st minute, Olympiakos's Chad Boyd ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Maynard Boone. Maynard Boone yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Don Whaley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Maynard Boone made a huge save. In the 39th minute, Wes Calhoun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 41 played minutes Olympiakos got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Fay. In the 43rd minute Iphikles Papadakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lincoln Grondin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Chad Boyd made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chad Boyd in the 53rd minute of play forced Vancouver Whitecaps FC's goalkeeper Maynard Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maynard Boone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chad Boyd in the 56th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chad Boyd in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Maynard Boone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Maynard Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wes Calhoun in the 63rd minute of play. If Chad Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Iphikles Papadakos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lincoln Grondin was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, Don Whaley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 76th minute Chad Boyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maynard Boone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maynard Boone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wes Calhoun, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Olympiakos's Chad Boyd got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Gizon Munoz fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vancouver Whitecaps FC's protests and gave Gizon Munoz a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 played minutes Vancouver Whitecaps FC got a freekick which was hit by Gizon Munoz. Chad Boyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maynard Boone having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Chad Boyd left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Olympiakos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Lincoln Grondin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iphikles Papadakos in the 92nd minute of the match. Lincoln Grondin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iphikles Papadakos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Eddy Fay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
