Kauã Paranaense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Avery Merrill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodolfo Eleazar in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Santos Perez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th minute Toronto United were awarded a corner. Güngör Yüce went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Gösta Enegren almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Persepolis F.C.'s Santos Perez did a great save. Kauã Paranaense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justo Carlomagno in the 29th minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Toronto United's goal looked a bit too open when Justo Carlomagno came free, but Kauã Paranaense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Toronto United booed when Persepolis F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Craig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Persepolis F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. The referee gave Andy Duff a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Andy Duff hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. When the match was over Persepolis F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Toronto United throughout the match.
