Persepolis F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919 the free kick. A collision led to Persepolis F.C. getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Andy Duff hit a great ball. After 11 minutes, Justo Carlomagno made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's Arden Ryder tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Arden Poulin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arden Ryder read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Arden Ryder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arden Poulin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, Persepolis F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Sébastien Hodges came free, but Santos Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sébastien Hodges during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 25 played minutes FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919 got a freekick which was hit by Sébastien Hodges. In the 29th minute of the match, Ildefonso Harkaitz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Arden Ryder saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 30th minute, Avery Merrill made a precise shot to the right of Arden Ryder. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. When FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's Erwin Bush in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 42nd minute of the match Persepolis F.C. got a corner. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Arden Poulin ran over to the corner to take the kick. Arden Ryder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Avery Merrill in the 46th minute. After 47 minutes FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Arden Poulin who took care of the corner kick. Persepolis F.C.'s Arden Poulin was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Arden Ryder in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Arden Poulin made the kick off in the second half. The Persepolis F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 57th match minute when Persepolis F.C.'s Justo Carlomagno looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Arden Ryder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arden Poulin in the 60th minute of play. In the 64th minute Arden Poulin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arden Ryder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on Persepolis F.C.'s corner Arden Poulin fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Arden Ryder quite easily take care of the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Persepolis F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Erwin Bush came free, but Santos Perez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Clark Lamontagne in the 74th minute. FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's Clark Lamontagne was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Santos Perez in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919's goalkeeper Arden Ryder, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Santos Perez made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Clark Lamontagne sent off a good shot on target. In the 84th match minute, Persepolis F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trevor Sandoval to maneuver through the defense. Persepolis F.C. made a substitution. Dennis Rudolph replaced Gwidon Seliga. After 85 played minutes Persepolis F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Trevor Sandoval. In the 86th minute of the match Clark Lamontagne sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santos Perez skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Persepolis F.C. booed when FCUniversitatea Cluj 1919 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dana Winston didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arden Ryder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justo Carlomagno in the 91st minute of play. Arden Ryder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arden Poulin, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Persepolis F.C. walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
