Spectators: 9224 (Terracing: 6919, Seating: 2122, VIP seats: 183) Francesco Di Lillo started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Brochu got free with Melchor Elija in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 5th minute Francesco Di Lillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Whaley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emerson Whaley came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Sunnyvale FC's Francesco Di Lillo. But to his dismay, Francesco Di Lillo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. AFC Richmond's Emerson Whaley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francesco Di Lillo in the 20th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Di Lillo in the 21st minute of play forced AFC Richmond's goalkeeper Emerson Whaley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emerson Whaley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickey McLain in the 22nd minute of play. Melchor Elija took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Irmantas Zenkevičius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emerson Whaley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francesco Di Lillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Melchor Elija didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Brochu went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 34 minutes into the match, Francesco Di Lillo notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of AFC Richmond's Emerson Whaley. Emerson Whaley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 38th minute Francesco Di Lillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Whaley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 42 minutes into the match, Rickey McLain notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of AFC Richmond's Emerson Whaley. Emerson Whaley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 47 minutes into the match, AFC Richmond's goal looked a bit too open when Francesco Di Lillo came free, but Emerson Whaley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47thth minute of the game Francesco Di Lillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFC Richmond's Emerson Whaley was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. David Brochu was the one to do the kick off. Emerson Whaley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kirk Camacho in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, Sunnyvale FC's Rickey McLain nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Emerson Whaley made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-5. 57 minutes into the match, AFC Richmond's goal looked a bit too open when Francesco Di Lillo came free, but Emerson Whaley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute, AFC Richmond's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rickey McLain fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 61st minute Kirk Camacho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Whaley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 61 minutes into the game, Kirk Camacho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Emerson Whaley was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 64 minutes into the match, Sunnyvale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Irmantas Zenkevičius came free, but Melchor Elija reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francesco Di Lillo struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Emerson Whaley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sunnyvale FC. Rickey McLain came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Emerson Whaley could save by the left post. AFC Richmond's Emerson Whaley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francesco Di Lillo in the 69th minute of play. Tomáš Petráček lost his temper 71 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 72nd match minute, AFC Richmond was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomáš Petráček to maneuver through the defense. Rickey McLain, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Emerson Whaley was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, AFC Richmond's Irmantas Zenkevičius got a free kick in the 86th minute. Emerson Whaley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francesco Di Lillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute.
