Spectators: 9199 (Terracing: 6901, Seating: 2115, VIP seats: 183) Francesco Di Lillo started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Rapid's Fabian Abeijon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Rapid from getting a goal against them. Fabian Abeijon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francesco Di Lillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mohamed Barron in the 7th minute of play forced Sunnyvale FC's goalkeeper Melchor Elija to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Rapid's Fabian Abeijon got control of the ball when Rickey McLain tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fabian Abeijon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Francesco Di Lillo's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. The audience was convinced that Mohamed Barron's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Melchor Elija was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. After 12 minutes, Cristian Iacob made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Rapid's Fabian Abeijon tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Melchor Elija was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Sunnyvale FC's Rickey McLain slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fabian Abeijon. That made the score 2-1 after 23 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Sunnyvale FC's Benito Newcomb got a free kick in the 27th minute. Melchor Elija made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mohamed Barron in the 28th minute of play. Fabian Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arturo Grimm in the 30th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leon Palban during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leon Palban hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. A collision led to Rapid getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Bartlomiej Puchlik hit a great ball. Leon Palban received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Melchor Elija tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mohamed Barron to make the kick off. Melchor Elija made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mohamed Barron in the 51st minute. When Cristian Iacob came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Sunnyvale FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Iacob couldn't finish the play. Melchor Elija made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Mohamed Barron sent off a good shot on target. The throw-in from Fernan Gomesano in the 55th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Rapid's George Clayson. A collision led to Rapid getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Bartlomiej Puchlik hit a great ball. In the 59th minute, Francesco Di Lillo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fabian Abeijon was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Fabian Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickey McLain in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to Rapid getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Leon Palban hit a great ball. In the 73rd minute Francesco Di Lillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabian Abeijon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sunnyvale FC's Melchor Elija played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Palban in the 76th minute of play. Francesco Di Lillo kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After 82 minutes, Trent Salter mouthed his way into the referee's book. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sunnyvale FC.
