The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurice Odonnell got free with Abel Bueno in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bernardo Goudreau kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Varennes's zone, Michael Owen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Boone came out of the goal and Michael Owen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilberto Boone stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Michael Owen's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Maurice Odonnell was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice moves Michael Owen could shoot a difficult shot in the 51st minute, which Gilberto Boone however easily saved by the left post. In the 58th minute, Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Michael Owen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gilberto Boone. Gilberto Boone yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Hilario Slaughter was substituted for Gary Thomason. Abel Bueno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardo Goudreau, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. 66 minutes into the match, Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Michael Owen. With his leg Gilberto Boone managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Michael Owen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michael Owen got free with Gilberto Boone in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Qikiqtarjuaq FC's Paul Some got a free kick in the 81st minute. Gilberto Boone made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Owen in the 85th minute. The supporters of Varennes booed when Qikiqtarjuaq FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul Some didn't get a good kick on the ball.
