But to his dismay, Kazimierz Boniek quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Herb Good showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filiberto James in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Gracias a la Pelota - DAM's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jean Britton fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 25th minute Jean Britton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 白延珂 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, Jean Britton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gracias a la Pelota - DAM's goalkeeper 白延珂, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Barış Birsoy got a free kick in the 45th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kendrick Zeigler in the 46th minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Herb Good to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jean Britton to make the kick off. 白延珂 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jean Britton, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 60 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Jean Britton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that 白延珂 narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 74th minute Caio Silveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herb Good saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Gracias a la Pelota - DAM was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sylvester Grubbs to maneuver through the defense. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Sam McCain was substituted for Emilio Hankins. Gracias a la Pelota - DAM's Jurgen Habermas quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 91st minute, Gracias a la Pelota - DAM's Sylvester Grubbs dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. Herb Good was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Nicodème Lamoureux capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nicodème Lamoureux really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3.
