After 6 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Defensor C.F.! In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Sporting Cristal. Miguel Abadia stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Urdin Abarca. 0-1. Wágner Andrade might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Urdin Abarca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wágner Andrade ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 23rd minute, Wágner Andrade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Urdin Abarca was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Urdin Abarca stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wágner Andrade's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Quinito Abellaneda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Berdoi Abechuco. Urdin Abarca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louis Zantke in the 30th minute of play. Urdin Abarca didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wágner Andrade went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. 36 minutes into the match, Defensor C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Andrade came free, but Urdin Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wágner Andrade received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Urdin Abarca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Defensor C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Wágner Andrade came free, but Urdin Abarca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wágner Andrade struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Urdin Abarca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Cristal. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Cristal's zone, Roberto Abella stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Quinito Abellaneda came out of the goal and Roberto Abella tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Sporting Cristal were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wágner Andrade was the one to do the kick off. Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Urdin Abarca successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a rather tough play, Sporting Cristal's Mino Abellaneda got a free kick in the 54th minute. When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 0-5 when Wágner Andrade sped through Defensor C.F.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Urdin Abarca. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Wágner Andrade put it in 0-6 from a short distance just to the right of Urdin Abarca. Louis Zantke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Urdin Abarca having to interfere. Christiano Abastas got a throw-in 66 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Carolo Abellaneda. Wágner Andrade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Urdin Abarca having to make a save. Urdin Abarca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wágner Andrade in the 67th minute. Urdin Abarca was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Wágner Andrade capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Wágner Andrade really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. In the 74th minute, Wágner Andrade fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Wágner Andrade who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 75thth minute tested the skills of Urdin Abarca when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Abella in the 76th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Quinito Abellaneda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wágner Andrade in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Urdin Abarca saved Defensor C.F. from getting behind. Urdin Abarca made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Wágner Andrade sent off a good shot on target. Defensor C.F.'s Urdin Abarca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Defensor C.F. from getting a goal against them. Sporting Cristal's Quinito Abellaneda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roberto Abella in the 94th minute of play. Quinito Abellaneda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roberto Abella, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berdoi Abechuco in the 97th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Quinito Abellaneda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Defensor C.F. fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sporting Cristal were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
