Alfredo Cothal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Txatxu Espriella, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Txatxu Espriella recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Verdun's Txatxu Espriella got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Artilleros FC's goalkeeper Alfredo Cothal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Boni Egea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Verdun's goalkeeper Pepillo Para, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Roldanillo Alba fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Verdun's protests and gave Roldanillo Alba a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Verdun:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Artilleros FC:s goal. In the 21st minute there was a penalty for Artilleros FC. Jenaro Hortero stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Pepillo Para. 1-0. The supporters of Artilleros FC booed when Verdun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lehoi Granja didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Dimo Gayoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Artilleros FC's Dimo Gayoso sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pepillo Para narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Artilleros FC's Pepillo Para threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Boni Egea, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Pepillo Para stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Boni Egea's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Verdun's zone, Dimo Gayoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pepillo Para came out of the goal and Dimo Gayoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pepillo Para didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 43rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Txatxu Espriella made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Artilleros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Txatxu Espriella came free, but Alfredo Cothal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute, Dimo Gayoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Verdun booed when Artilleros FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jenaro Hortero didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute of the match Roldanillo Alba shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Cothal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 83 minutes, Dimo Gayoso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Artilleros FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dimo Gayoso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute Dimo Gayoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepillo Para saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Artilleros FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Verdun had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
