The supporters of C.A.Peñarol booed when Peñarol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nofre Padierna didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Iraido Verastegui had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iraido Verastegui sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hector Tascon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pelagius Chaniz in the 28th minute of play. With his leg Kinsen Llorente managed to avoid a goal in the 30thth minute, when Peñarol's Chaime Berastegui fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 32 minutes into the game, Joseba Irigoras cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Hector Tascon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a little luck, C.A.Peñarol's Kinsen Llorente got control of the ball when Reynaldo Riba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Iraido Verastegui struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Hector Tascon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.A.Peñarol. Pelagius Chaniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Hector Tascon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Iraido Verastegui ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hector Tascon was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2.

In the 58th minute, Chaime Berastegui ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kinsen Llorente was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Kinsen Llorente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Llorienzo Teijeiro in the 62nd minute of the match. Peñarol's Hector Tascon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Peñarol from getting a goal against them. If Llorienzo Teijeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 73rd minute, Ramiro Roncal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Peñarol's Hotz Campon tried to score from far away in the 74th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Reynaldo Riba hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Pelagius Chaniz came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Hector Tascon could save by the left post. Eneto Merchan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 91 played minutes C.A.Peñarol got a freekick which was hit by Pelagius Chaniz. Llorienzo Teijeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eneto Merchan hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Nofre Padierna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. C.A.Peñarol walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
