The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 minutes, Pelagius Barbari mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Gringo 20 FC and the Goni AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th match minute, El Gringo 20 FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pelagius Barbari to maneuver through the defense. Ruben Mazule came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Goni AFC's Erlantz Cabeza. But to his dismay, Erlantz Cabeza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Erlantz Cabeza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Mazule having to interfere. Ruben Mazule stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jose Iturrate's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Jose Iturrate's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruben Mazule was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Ruben Mazule made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erlantz Cabeza in the 14th minute of play. Jose Iturrate fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Mazule having to interfere. Boni Grandas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Etxekopar Neyda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xesus Mathey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pelagius Barbari hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Jose Iturrate struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Ruben Mazule didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Goni AFC. Boni Grandas didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 36th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. A collision led to El Gringo 20 FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Macias Trigueros hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in El Gringo 20 FC's zone, Jose Iturrate stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Mazule came out of the goal and Jose Iturrate tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pepe Zulueta charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pepe Zulueta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd match minute, Goni AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pepe Zulueta to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 48 minutes, Etxekopar Neyda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Gringo 20 FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Etxekopar Neyda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

After a defensive mix-up in Goni AFC's zone, Xesus Mathey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boni Grandas came out of the goal and Xesus Mathey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 55th play minutes Erlantz Cabeza shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Ruben Mazule and just under the crossbar into goal. 59 minutes into the match, Goni AFC's Erlantz Cabeza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ruben Mazule narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Etxekopar Neyda in the 62nd minute of play forced Goni AFC's goalkeeper Boni Grandas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ruben Mazule made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Erlantz Cabeza sent off a good shot on target. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Goni AFC's goalkeeper Boni Grandas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Erlantz Cabeza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jose Iturrate might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruben Mazule. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jose Iturrate ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Erlantz Cabeza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goni AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Erlantz Cabeza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruben Mazule breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Goni AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Goni AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
