Jerrald Ser showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Locaio Aldazabal in the 8th minute of the match. In the 20thth minute of the game Artur Villaquiran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Peñarol's Donatello Urquiza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvestre Raña in the 23rd minute of play forced Peñarol's goalkeeper Donatello Urquiza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Progreso FC's Artur Villaquiran got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Artur Villaquiran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Donatello Urquiza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvestre Raña went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. If Silvestre Raña had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donatello Urquiza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Villaquiran in the 44th minute of play. Lico Terres kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Villaquiran came free, but Donatello Urquiza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Artur Villaquiran blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donatello Urquiza having to make a save. Silvestre Raña fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donatello Urquiza having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artur Villaquiran in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donatello Urquiza saved Peñarol from getting behind. 56 minutes into the match, Peñarol's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Villaquiran came free, but Donatello Urquiza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Silvestre Raña cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Donatello Urquiza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Peñarol's zone, Artur Villaquiran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donatello Urquiza came out of the goal and Artur Villaquiran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lico Terres kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Donatello Urquiza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Villaquiran in the 68th minute of play. Progreso FC's Artur Villaquiran got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Donatello Urquiza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artur Villaquiran, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silvestre Raña in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Donatello Urquiza saved Peñarol from getting behind. Progreso FC's Artur Villaquiran got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Artur Villaquiran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Progreso FC's Artur Villaquiran in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Peñarol's goalie prevented a goal. Silvestre Raña blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donatello Urquiza having to make a save. Progreso FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
