If Thomas Negral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Machado Garabito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prejun Gustros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 48th minute, Leandro Gurbista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nahia Ludueña made a kick off. Leandro Gurbista was shown his second yellow card after 58 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Progreso! Rolando Leniz placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! 61 minutes into the game, Poncio Preciado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Progreso's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Algorta the free kick. Poncio Preciado kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. After 63 minutes of play Algorta's Gorka Hernan was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Progreso booed when Algorta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gorka Hernan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Machado Garabito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prejun Gustros having to interfere. Machado Garabito took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Prejun Gustros. Prejun Gustros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Machado Garabito's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Prejun Gustros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Algorta's Thomas Negral got a free kick in the 75th minute. When Ferrer Ureña came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Algorta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ferrer Ureña couldn't finish the play. In the 86th minute, Benigno Seijon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Teofilio Verdejo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thomas Negral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nazario Bellogin having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Machado Garabito got free with Prejun Gustros in the 100th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Progreso supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Progreso would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
