The referee ignored Guichon's protests and gave Gau Somiedo a yellow card for diving instead. Ferdinand Cuadrado was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Domiku Navia showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 33 minute of play. Rodrigo Saldivar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gervasio Miño in the 41st minute of play. Merinos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hustaz Revillas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cordarryl Cabrerizo got free with Rodrigo Saldivar in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Merinos had played much better football throughout.
