The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ibon Izuzquiza was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Maldonado AFC's zone, Ixona Uriondo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. With a little luck, Peñarol's Baudelio Tuset got control of the ball when Pepito Cobos tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baudelio Tuset prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A hard shot 91 in the game by Pepito Cobos from a close distance when the talented Baudelio Tuset managed to make a qualified save. Peñarol's players were relieved. Perpinya Tercero hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Ibon Izuzquiza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baudelio Tuset having to interfere. The Maldonado AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Maldonado AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
