The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 44th match minute, Finisterra F.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Idacio Caso to maneuver through the defense. Sugoi Candana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evaristo Guasch, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oto Gener to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as C.A. RIVER PLATE's Xantalen Eliseo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sugoi Candana. That made the score 1-1 after 53 minutes of play. C.A. RIVER PLATE's Lazaro Barrachina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Idacio Caso in the 58th minute of play. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A. RIVER PLATE's goalkeeper Lazaro Barrachina, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 64 minutes, Xantalen Eliseo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.A. RIVER PLATE and the Finisterra F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card.
