In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montes's goalkeeper Federico Guardiola, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marco Paniagua struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Garoa Secanell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montes. 24 minutes in the game, Reyes Teigeiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Federico Guardiola having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Furman Lizarazu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 44 minutes into the match, Montes's goal looked a bit too open when Reyes Teigeiro came free, but Federico Guardiola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The corner led Montes's Mauricio Galguera to fire away a dangerous shot which Garoa Secanell despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Marco Paniagua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Garoa Secanell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mouricio Raireta, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Marco Paniaguas short, quick shot in the 65thth minute got Garoa Secanell to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reyes Teigeiro in the 70th minute of play forced Montes's goalkeeper Federico Guardiola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Salto's defense didn't have a chance, in the 85th minute, when Mouricio Raireta scored to the left of an out of position Garoa Secanell, making the score, 0-1. Marco Paniagua received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Garoa Secanell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marco Paniagua who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Garoa Secanell when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Montes eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
