Hermelando Ascargorta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermelando Ascargorta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baumer Canive, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Baumer Canive fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermelando Ascargorta having to interfere. Estebano Ociña struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Peio Nanclares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nacional. Ceferino Belmonte received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Hermelando Ascargorta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ceferino Belmonte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermelando Ascargorta having to interfere. In the 32nd match minute, Vazquez AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Karlos Serrano to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 34 minutes, Estebano Ociña managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nacional's supporters crossed their fingers, but Estebano Ociña was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Rodrigo Balmaceda came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Nacional fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodrigo Balmaceda couldn't finish the play. Nacional's Estebano Ociña got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vazquez AFC's Teodor Salce couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 45th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nacional. 49 minutes into the match, Nacional's goalkeeper Hermelando Ascargorta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ceferino Belmonte. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Estebano Ociña stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Peio Nanclares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Estebano Ociña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peio Nanclares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Estebano Ociña's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. The Vazquez AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Nacional's performance. The match ended with a win for Nacional.
