Mino Mondragon came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Sarandi AFC's Rencio Cuenca. But to his dismay, Rencio Cuenca quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Manuel España sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Intxixu Mazariegos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tallia Mirabel having to interfere. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montevideo FC's goalkeeper Mino Mondragon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Reynaldo Ariste hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Sarandi AFC's Birjaio Pacheco tried to score from far away in the 18th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Hugo Echarriza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mino Mondragon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Echarriza in the 28th minute of the match. If Manuel España had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 32nd minute, Reynaldo Ariste hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Echarriza in the 34th minute of play forced Montevideo FC's goalkeeper Mino Mondragon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Reynaldo Ariste took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Tallia Mirabel to make any attempt to save it. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Intxixu Mazariegos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montevideo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Intxixu Mazariegos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tallia Mirabel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 48 minutes, Reynaldo Ariste managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montevideo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynaldo Ariste was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hugo Echarriza to strike the kick off in the second half. Hugo Echarriza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Mino Mondragon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Hugo Echarriza dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mino Mondragon, 1-2. If Reynaldo Ariste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Frantzes Sequeiros fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montevideo FC's protests and gave Frantzes Sequeiros a yellow card for diving instead. In the 76th match minute, Montevideo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frantzes Sequeiros to maneuver through the defense. If Manuel España had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Intxixu Mazariegos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tallia Mirabel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 93 minutes into the match, Montevideo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Echarriza came free, but Mino Mondragon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mino Mondragon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel España in the 96th minute. Chants of Sarandi AFC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Montevideo FC had held the ball for most of the match.
