The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 played minutes Candil got a freekick which was hit by Lertxun Caubilla. In the 14th minute, Ceferino Cuellar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ceferino Cuellar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Ceferino Cuellar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mendizabal's supporters rose to their feet, but Ceferino Cuellar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The wind increased when Piorno Oteo made the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Galeno Abecia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Galeno Abecia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ceferino Cuellar in the 89th minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Ceferino Cuellar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
