After a defensive mix-up in Salto FC's zone, Zosimo Hernaez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gomesano Belda came out of the goal and Zosimo Hernaez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 8th minute Bitxintxo Bares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Peart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Tacuarembo's Andrew Peart got control of the ball when Muc Basanta tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 19th minute Lizar Diego shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gomesano Belda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Salto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Salomone Rado came free, but Gomesano Belda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Muc Basanta came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Salto FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Muc Basanta couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Salomone Rado in the 25th minute of play forced Salto FC's goalkeeper Gomesano Belda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bitxintxo Bares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute Bitxintxo Bares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Peart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Chagavia kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Gomesano Belda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salomone Rado, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Urtsua Raon kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. After having played for 42 minutes, Bitxintxo Bares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salto FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bitxintxo Bares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Salto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Salomone Rado came free, but Gomesano Belda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salomone Rado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Gomesano Belda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Salomone Rado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Salomone Rado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gomesano Belda having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Salomone Rado in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gomesano Belda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Tacuarembo getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Victor Cenzano hit a great ball. Gomesano Belda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salomone Rado in the 69th minute of play. A collision led to Salto FC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Ceandro Echaniz hit a great ball. Lizar Diego took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gomesano Belda. Gomesano Belda dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The supporters of Tacuarembo booed when Salto FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ceandro Echaniz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Salto FC's Gomesano Belda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giraldo Rigueiro in the 83rd minute of play. Lizar Diego sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lizar Diego's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gomesano Belda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Andrew Peart showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bitxintxo Bares, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Tacuarembo walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
