The referee ignored Anastasia's protests and gave Arixo Monzonis a yellow card for diving instead. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gaitano Baragaño to make the kick off. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ferrer's goalkeeper Stephen Salsoro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sancho Carredano couldn't finish the play. Ferrer's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nerio Placencia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ferrer eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
