The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. La Coronilla F.C's Txilar Tejeido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Carballido in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL's goalkeeper Cordeal Ubago had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kevin Raigadas. When Pero Rey came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the PEÑAROL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pero Rey couldn't finish the play. Txilar Tejeido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eloy Carballido, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. If Nicolas Chale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Boni Mañes fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La Coronilla F.C's protests and gave Boni Mañes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of PEÑAROL booed when La Coronilla F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boni Mañes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in La Coronilla F.C's zone, Eloy Carballido stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Txilar Tejeido came out of the goal and Eloy Carballido tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Pero Rey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pero Rey might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Txilar Tejeido. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pero Rey ran back to his position shaking his head. Eloy Carballido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Txilar Tejeido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pero Rey in the 39th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elvio Olaisola in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Txilar Tejeido saved La Coronilla F.C from getting behind. Pero Rey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Boni Mañes made the kick off in the second half. Txilar Tejeido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eloy Carballido in the 52nd minute of play. After 53 played minutes La Coronilla F.C got a freekick which was hit by Claudinei Vinas. Cordeal Ubago made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Raigadas in the 61st minute of play. Eloy Carballido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 68 minutes into the match, PEÑAROL's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Raigadas came free, but Cordeal Ubago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
