The Paralle fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Lecea should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Kaiet Palacio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Lecea was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Correia in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Lecea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 16 played minutes Paralle got a freekick which was hit by Venerando Monteserin. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Correia in the 17th minute of play forced Paralle's goalkeeper Benito Lecea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Paralle's Henry Velazquez got a free kick in the 18th minute. Cristian Correia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erramu Herreros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierres Perdices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Paralle's zone, Kaiet Palacio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Lecea came out of the goal and Kaiet Palacio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rdth minute of the game Cristian Correia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Paralle's Benito Lecea was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Cristian Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the match, Paralle's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Correia came free, but Benito Lecea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of C. A. Peñarol booed when Paralle was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henry Velazquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Benito Lecea managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when C. A. Peñarol's Ritchie Asuaga fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 66th minute, Paralle's Adrian Camudio seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Adrian Camudio the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Paralle protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Adrian Camudio had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Benito Lecea went to the wrong direction when Steven Diaz was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Correia got free with Benito Lecea in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 73 minutes into the game, Cristian Correia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Benito Lecea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pierres Perdices hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Dario Breogan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Lecea having to interfere. Peñarol's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Steven Diaz in the 97th minute. A nice corner shot did that Roger Nordström got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Benito Lecea quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The Paralle fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. C. A. Peñarol were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
