Geofredo Ricoy hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 16th match minute, Acosta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrea Boveda to maneuver through the defense. Geofredo Ricoy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicasio Picardo having to interfere. Nicasio Picardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gipuzkoa Sancha, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 24th minute, Geofredo Ricoy made a precise shot to the right of Nicasio Picardo. Merinos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geofredo Ricoy made a kick off. Dunixi Trincado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Carriedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geofredo Ricoy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Nicasio Picardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Domeka Labandera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dunixi Trincado having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domeka Labandera in the 73rd minute of play forced Acosta's goalkeeper Dunixi Trincado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrea Boveda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicasio Picardo having to interfere. Nicasio Picardo made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Geofredo Ricoy sent off a good shot on target. 77 minutes into the game, Isaias Chinchilla was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merinos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Acosta the free kick. When Gipuzkoa Sancha came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Acosta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gipuzkoa Sancha couldn't finish the play. When Bahiano Sotuela fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Acosta's protests and gave Bahiano Sotuela a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Acosta! The audience thought a goal was coming when Gipuzkoa Sancha got free with Nicasio Picardo in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gipuzkoa Sancha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Nicasio Picardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the Acosta players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Merinos.
