Claudinei Majua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeruko Arango, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. If Playo Lobelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. River Plate's Ignado Naveros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raimundo Urquizu in the 9th minute of play. Fernan Lizaso charged in rather forcefully in the 13th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernan Lizaso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 13 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Fernan Lizaso. In the 17th minute, Israel Raireta sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Minuano's Claudinei Majua didn't even have to move. Claudinei Majua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeruko Arango in the 20th minute of play. After 22 minutes, Playo Lobelo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the River Plate and the Minuano players grew even worse after the yellow card. Playo Lobelo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Ignado Naveros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Urquizu in the 27th minute of the match. With a little luck, River Plate's Ignado Naveros got control of the ball when Osoro Arieta tried to sneak it across the goal line. Minuano were furious when Cidro Zamudio was red carded, 34 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 33 minutes into the game, one of Minuano:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave River Plate a penalty, 36 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Israel Raireta, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Minuano's Claudinei Majua. 0-1. 39 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Naelio Bueres came free, but Ignado Naveros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ignado Naveros made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osoro Arieta in the 41st minute. After the first half River Plate were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Osoro Arieta made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of River Plate booed when Minuano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naelio Bueres didn't get a good kick on the ball. 55 minutes into the match, Israel Raireta sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Claudinei Majua threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Israel Raireta this time. After 59 minutes of play, Minuano's Osoro Arieta made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ignado Naveros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Xantalen Vea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ignado Naveros having to interfere. Ignado Naveros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osoro Arieta in the 66th minute of the match. After having played for 68 minutes, Playo Lobelo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. River Plate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Playo Lobelo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Playo Lobelo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Claudinei Majua made a huge save. In the 75th match minute, Minuano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Xantalen Vea to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Minuano's Naelio Bueres got a free kick in the 77th minute. A collision led to Minuano getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Xantalen Vea hit a great ball. In the 81st minute, Ponciano Gonta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the game, Osoro Arieta cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Ignado Naveros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Israel Raireta hit a great ball. Zeruko Arango might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claudinei Majua. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zeruko Arango ran back to his position shaking his head.
