In the 18th minute, Buceo's Silbestre Ibarzabal dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Lalo Pangusion fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xabier Salgado having to interfere. Roberto Revillas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eutor Buenaga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the game, Mannie Cosio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Buceo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Nacional de Fútbol the free kick. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Neto Avila to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Club Nacional de Fútbol's goal looked a bit too open when Neto Avila came free, but Roberto Revillas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
