After having played for 31 minutes, Geleberto Alfeiran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tala's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geleberto Alfeiran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Boca Jr's goalkeeper Melquiades Benegas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geleberto Alfeiran. After a rather tough play, Boca Jr's Berasko Clas got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 43rd minute of the match Santiago Albarez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Melquiades Benegas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Tala's Txema Gou got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute Txema Gou shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Melquiades Benegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Txema Gou's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Melquiades Benegas was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Jr's zone, Geleberto Alfeiran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leoiar Maestu succeeded in the game's 70th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Melquiades Benegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geleberto Alfeiran in the 74th minute of play. Nestor Peramato was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 77 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 77th minute of the game. One of Boca Jr:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tala:s goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Luisito Tejerizo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boca Jr's supporters rose to their feet, but Luisito Tejerizo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valiente Berriz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Melquiades Benegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Txema Gou in the 97th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Tala fans cheered their team off the field, for while Boca Jr had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
