Belo Leturia came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by La Murguita's Urtats Santillion. But to his dismay, Urtats Santillion quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Esquipula Betolaza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Belo Leturia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristi Iovan in the 30th minute of play. Medardo Laurenciano kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Robert Björklund made a precise shot to the right of Belo Leturia. Echevarria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Esquipula Betolaza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcelino Garival showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Urtats Santillion came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the La Murguita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urtats Santillion couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Echevarria getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Lopes Avendaño hit a great ball.
