The supporters of Punta Carretas FC booed when Piriapolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo De Leon didn't get a good kick on the ball. 3 minutes into the match, Punta Carretas FC's Zigor Cuellar broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Marcelito Cirion showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erling Braut Haaland, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Erling Braut Haaland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelito Cirion having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Luis Alberto Cubilla made a precise shot to the right of Marcelito Cirion. Punta Carretas FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Marcelito Cirion showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Alberto Cubilla in the 15th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Luis Alberto Cubilla sped through Punta Carretas FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcelito Cirion. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Luis Alberto Cubilla managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piriapolis FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Alberto Cubilla was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcelito Cirion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Punta Carretas FC defense, Luis Alberto Cubilla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcelito Cirion. The Punta Carretas FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcelito Cirion should have stopped the shot. The Piriapolis FC fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Piriapolis FC's Luis Alberto Cubilla looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Silvio Bertrand struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Marcelito Cirion didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piriapolis FC. In the 42nd minute, Amadeo Olazabal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute Malvin Olaondo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelito Cirion saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Piriapolis FC's Fernandez Vielva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Siro Molinuevo in the 45th minute of play. In the 47thth minute of the game Luis Alberto Cubilla who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Punta Carretas FC's Marcelito Cirion was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luis Alberto Cubilla to make the kick off. Erling Braut Haaland spun around in front of the goal 52 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Punta Carretas FC's goal. Siro Molinuevo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fernandez Vielva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Luis Alberto Cubilla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Marcelito Cirion tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernandez Vielva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roque Peñacerrada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Punta Carretas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Alberto Cubilla came free, but Marcelito Cirion reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Punta Carretas FC's goalkeeper Marcelito Cirion had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marz Danzo. In the 63rd minute, Piriapolis FC's Luis Alberto Cubilla dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-6. A collision led to Piriapolis FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Sindo Rosales hit a great ball. Marz Danzo took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcelito Cirion. Marcelito Cirion dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. After 74 played minutes Punta Carretas FC got a freekick which was hit by Ugutz Urbina. After a rather tough play, Punta Carretas FC's Amadeo Olazabal got a free kick in the 75th minute. Punta Carretas FC's Roque Peñacerrada got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Piriapolis FC booed when Punta Carretas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ugutz Urbina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Punta Carretas FC's zone, Luis Alberto Cubilla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelito Cirion came out of the goal and Luis Alberto Cubilla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Alberto Cubilla in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcelito Cirion prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcelito Cirion stood somewhat misplaced when Luis Alberto Cubilla came free in front of goal and shot 0-8 to the left of him in the 93 minute. Piriapolis FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
