When Valentin Banga came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Mariolo fans jumped to their feet. Valentin Banga was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 23rd minute, Umea Loza made a precise shot to the right of Iraido Bertiz. Valentin Banga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iraido Bertiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Mariolo's goal looked a bit too open when Bengt-Rune Widberg came free, but Eufrasio Vall reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Mariolo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Witold Pietras in the 52nd minute.
