In the 45th minute Antônio Carlos da Costa suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 62nd minute, Felix Roldan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Real de Carmelo 2021 FC booed when Defensor Sporting Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Defensor Sporting Club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lucho Aguiar ran over to the corner to take the kick. When the final whistle went the supporters of Real de Carmelo 2021 FC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Defensor Sporting Club side.
