The corner led Vanadio F.C.'s Maxin Oces to fire away a dangerous shot which Arturo Balendin despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 6th minute, Servando Ariztimuño got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 9th match minute, Nueva Chicago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sun Han to maneuver through the defense. Rıfat Şahin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Arturo Balendin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulin Sequeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Hagi in the 14th minute of play. When Gordon Suarez came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Vanadio F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gordon Suarez couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Nueva Chicago booed when Vanadio F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evaristo Gurruchaga didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Jerardo Bueno made a precise shot to the right of Paulin Sequeiros. Vanadio F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Paulin Sequeiros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Widodo 黄忠, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. The audience was convinced that Jerardo Bueno's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulin Sequeiros was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Nueva Chicago's George Hagi got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gordon Suarez to strike the kick off in the second half. George Hagi's late challenge caught a Vanadio F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. George Hagi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 50th minute, George Hagi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nueva Chicago's Arturo Balendin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gordon Suarez in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Jerardo Bueno could shoot a difficult shot in the 60th minute, which Paulin Sequeiros however easily saved by the left post. Vanadio F.C.'s Leizarraga Olmedo was substituted for Evaristo Gurruchaga. In the 61st match minute, Nueva Chicago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ioritz Farto to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Vanadio F.C.'s Paulin Sequeiros got control of the ball when Jerardo Bueno tried to sneak it across the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Jerardo Bueno kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paulin Sequeiros. That made the score 0-2 in the 67 minute of play. George Hagi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Paulin Sequeiros made a huge save. Xaime Abar hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vanadio F.C.'s goalkeeper Paulin Sequeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Nueva Chicago fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Nueva Chicago's Jerardo Bueno looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Paulin Sequeiros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Widodo 黄忠 in the 94th minute of play.
