Spectators: 7432 (Terracing: 5575, Seating: 1709, VIP seats: 148) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lois Yevenez started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo Mérida's goalkeeper Samuel Farias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alipio Valencia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuel Farias came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Montechico's Filiberto Matas. But to his dismay, Filiberto Matas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Alipio Valencia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 15 played minutes Deportivo Mérida got a freekick which was hit by Yeray Otero. Filiberto Matas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Farias having to interfere. Filiberto Matas took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Samuel Farias. Samuel Farias dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Lois Yevenez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Deportivo Mérida's supporters rose to their feet, but Lois Yevenez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogerio Barros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Montechico's Filiberto Matas in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Deportivo Mérida's goalie prevented a goal. Lois Yevenez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Rogerio Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Montechico's goalkeeper Rogerio Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dionisio Tous. If Dionisio Tous had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Filiberto Matas was the one to do the kick off. Samuel Farias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filiberto Matas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dionisio Tous recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Luis María Lastarria fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Deportivo Mérida's protests and gave Luis María Lastarria a yellow card for diving instead. In the 69th minute, Luis María Lastarria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Filiberto Matas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Farias having to interfere. 71 minutes into the game, Jeraldo Waddington was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Deportivo Mérida's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montechico the free kick. Montechico's Rogerio Barros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dionisio Tous in the 76th minute of play. When Filiberto Matas came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Montechico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filiberto Matas couldn't finish the play. Alipio Valencia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Samuel Farias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dionisio Tous had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samuel Farias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alipio Valencia went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Carlos Gustavo Asmussen's late challenge caught a Montechico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Gustavo Asmussen helped the player get up and apologised. Carlos Gustavo Asmussen kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filiberto Matas in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Samuel Farias saved Deportivo Mérida from getting behind.
