But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alonso Mac Clure couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Calvino Novoa in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ursino Orostegui prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ursino Orostegui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calvino Novoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Américo Ventura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelino Salas in the 16th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in DEP. COILACO's zone, Juliano Puelma stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Américo Ventura came out of the goal and Juliano Puelma tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Alonso Mac Clure had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelino Salas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Américo Ventura having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Juliano Puelma had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Américo Ventura. DEP. COILACO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Juliano Puelma was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Angelino Salas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Américo Ventura having to interfere. When Angelino Salas fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lajuelas AFC's protests and gave Angelino Salas a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd minute, Angelino Salas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Calvino Novoa got free in front of the goal in the 46th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Ursino Orostegui was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Calvino Novoa to make the kick off. Cornelio Almarza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Calvino Novoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ursino Orostegui having to interfere. Ursino Orostegui took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calvino Novoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Juliano Puelma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 60 minutes into the game, Rosalio Spöerer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DEP. COILACO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lajuelas AFC the free kick. The supporters of Lajuelas AFC booed when DEP. COILACO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rosalio Spöerer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd minute, Juliano Puelma left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lajuelas AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Angelino Salas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Américo Ventura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juliano Puelma recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 84th minute Angelino Salas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Ventura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Angelino Salas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lajuelas AFC's Ursino Orostegui played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvino Novoa in the 91st minute of play. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lajuelas AFC's goalkeeper Ursino Orostegui, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Lajuelas AFC fully deserved thier win.
