Ceferino Sola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gutijane. 23 minutes into the game, Angelino Espiñeira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gutijane's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave La U the free kick. Angelino Espiñeira hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Gutijane's goal looked a bit too open when Uriel Cea came free, but Honorato Marticorena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ceferino Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asier Pena in the 32nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eufemio Doberti got free with Ceferino Sola in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Uriel Cea might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Honorato Marticorena. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Uriel Cea ran back to his position shaking his head. If Uriel Cea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute Savier Teran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Honorato Marticorena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Gutijane players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. La U were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Asier Pena to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Cirilo Serey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jaume Otaola came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Gutijane fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaume Otaola couldn't finish the play. Ceferino Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asier Pena in the 54th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Savier Teran managed to get in a good position for a shot. La U's supporters rose to their feet, but Savier Teran was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Honorato Marticorena breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Asier Pena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Asier Pena blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ceferino Sola having to make a save. Uriel Cea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Honorato Marticorena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eufemio Doberti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Sola having to interfere. Honorato Marticorena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Savier Teran in the 74th minute. With a little luck, Gutijane's Honorato Marticorena got control of the ball when Uriel Cea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ceferino Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asier Pena in the 78th minute of play.
