Franco Olavarría hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Celestino Atienza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elias Schindler was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Eber Bertrand received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Elias Schindler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pacífico Bulboa made in the 25th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Mercuriales's Filiberto Roldán. Elias Schindler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Atienza, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. A collision led to Mercuriales getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Justino Bafalluy hit a great ball. In the 31st minute Máté Vida shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elias Schindler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Angelino Atienza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Anziani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mercuriales's Oscar Anziani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelino Atienza in the 41st minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Mercuriales's goal looked a bit too open when Franco Olavarría came free, but Oscar Anziani reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Eber Bertrand had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Cunao FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Angelino Atienza made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Franco Olavarría got free with Oscar Anziani in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Mercuriales booed when Cunao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tito Balcazar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Máté Vida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Schindler having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celestino Atienza in the 75th minute of play forced Cunao FC's goalkeeper Elias Schindler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elias Schindler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Genaro Moscoso went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Franco Olavarría sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Mercuriales's Oscar Anziani got control of the ball when Franco Olavarría tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 91st minute Yeray Galaz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Anziani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oscar Anziani made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Franco Olavarría sent off a good shot on target. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
