Ariano Galván's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Blanco Velasco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After 63 played minutes Quipisca AFC got a freekick which was hit by Angelo Amaya. After 66 played minutes VfB Stuttgart got a freekick which was hit by Dalmacio Del Pino. Ariano Galván might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Blanco Velasco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ariano Galván ran back to his position shaking his head. Ariano Galván showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. When Albano Prieto came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the VfB Stuttgart fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albano Prieto couldn't finish the play. VfB Stuttgart's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcos Francisco Polloni in the 89th minute.
