Yeray Abalos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andy Egaña having to make a save. Timeteo Huilcaman hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, California's Rómulo Castillo Velasco got a free kick in the 13th minute. Nahuel Tordesillas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fulgencio Facuse, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Cresenciano Rufo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nahuel Tordesillas having to interfere. Florín Dessauer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. California's Nahuel Tordesillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cresenciano Rufo in the 25th minute of play. Florín Dessauer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Andy Egaña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. California's Florín Dessauer got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Yeray Abalos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Andy Egaña came out and tried to block the shot, but Yeray Abalos slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 33rd minute. In the 38th minute, Yeray Abalos fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Andy Egaña, passed just outside the right post. Florín Dessauer's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 41stth minute, Andy Egaña skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Andy Egaña made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Florín Dessauer sent off a good shot on target. Justino Huaiquipan might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Andy Egaña. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Justino Huaiquipan ran back to his position shaking his head. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Cresenciano Rufo made the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Huachipato FC's Mauricio Inzunza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nahuel Tordesillas. That made the score 2-2 after 52 minutes of play. Narciso Fritis charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Narciso Fritis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of Huachipato FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of California:s goal. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind California's goalkeeper Nahuel Tordesillas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 72 minutes into the game, Jeremías Juarez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. California's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Huachipato FC the free kick. Jeremías Juarez hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Cresenciano Rufo might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nahuel Tordesillas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cresenciano Rufo ran back to his position shaking his head. Narciso Fritis lost his temper 88 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 87th minute, one of Huachipato FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Huachipato FC. There was no doubt that California were the better team. California's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
