Spectators: 6692 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1692, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Vasco Gallardo took the kick off in the first half of the match. The supporters of Monterrey booed when Illapel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Alberto Kammerer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sergi Diena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Antonio Lozano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, Illapel's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Antonio Lozano came free, but Sergi Diena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasco Gallardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baudelio Zaror having to interfere. The corner led Illapel's Dino Banderas to fire away a dangerous shot which Baudelio Zaror despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Quique Schnaidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Illapel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Quique Schnaidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 39th minute, Manuel Antonio Lozano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jordi Schmauk kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Illapel's goal looked a bit too open when Ricard Albert came free, but Sergi Diena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44thth minute of the game Ricard Albert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Illapel's Sergi Diena was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ricard Albert made a kick off. Vasco Gallardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Baudelio Zaror tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Baudelio Zaror took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasco Gallardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 58thth minute of the game Vasco Gallardo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Monterrey's Baudelio Zaror was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Vasco Gallardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Illapel's supporters rose to their feet, but Vasco Gallardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baudelio Zaror breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 66 minutes into the match, Monterrey's goal looked a bit too open when Quique Schnaidt came free, but Baudelio Zaror reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasco Gallardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baudelio Zaror having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jordi Schmauk in the 78th minute of play forced Monterrey's goalkeeper Baudelio Zaror to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Illapel's Vasco Gallardo got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Quique Schnaidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Baudelio Zaror tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Antonio Lozanos short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Sergi Diena to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 87th minute, Germán Lastra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vasco Gallardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baudelio Zaror having to interfere. Baudelio Zaror made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasco Gallardo in the 92nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Manuel Antonio Lozano could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Sergi Diena however easily saved by the left post. 94 minutes into the game, Jordi Schmauk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Illapel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Monterrey the free kick. Jordi Schmauk kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Monterrey's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Juan Jesus Huaiquipan in the 97th minute. The corner ended in Juan Jesus Huaiquipan almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Illapel's Sergi Diena did a great save. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Illapel had played much better football throughout.
