An unexpectedly hard shot by Honorato Painevilu in the 27th minute of play forced Chollay FC's goalkeeper Anastasio Andueza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Honorato Painevilu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Honorato Painevilu came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Municipal Mejillones fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Honorato Painevilu couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, Rogelio Angeloni had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anastasio Andueza. Chollay FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rogelio Angeloni was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Saturnín Cabanillas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Anastasio Andueza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Rogelio Angeloni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 47 minutes of play, Chollay FC's Angelillo Araujo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Isaiás Portes was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Chollay FC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Francisco Ignacio Maffet hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Rogelio Angeloni managed to get in a good position for a shot. Municipal Mejillones's supporters rose to their feet, but Rogelio Angeloni was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anastasio Andueza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 63 minutes into the match, Chollay FC's goalkeeper Anastasio Andueza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Honorato Painevilu. A collision led to Municipal Mejillones getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. José Alberto Alderete hit a great ball. Calixto Parant was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 65th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Chollay FC's Anastasio Andueza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Chollay FC from getting a goal against them. Honorato Painevilu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Anastasio Andueza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Chollay FC's zone, Rogelio Angeloni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anastasio Andueza came out of the goal and Rogelio Angeloni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 85th minute, one of Municipal Mejillones:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Municipal Mejillones. If Angelillo Araujo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th play minute Honorato Painevilu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Anastasio Andueza. 2-3. Anastasio Andueza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Angeloni in the 99th minute of the match. The Chollay FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Municipal Mejillones were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
