In the 3rd match minute, Cabecera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Galdames to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Universidad Católica booed when Cabecera was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Eduardo Sires didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Hernánde Budinich took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Enric Monroy. Cabecera's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 6th minute, Vladimiro Pradenas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Vladimiro Pradenas fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cabecera's protests and gave Vladimiro Pradenas a yellow card for diving instead. Vladimiro Pradenas hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute Rafael Lea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enric Monroy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute Amado Galdames shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgilio Ferrari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto Lavaque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgilio Ferrari having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 23 minutes, Virgilio Ferrari successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Celedonio Dagnino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Virgilio Ferrari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Universidad Católica's zone, Amado Galdames stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Ferrari came out of the goal and Amado Galdames tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st minute Amado Galdames shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgilio Ferrari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Universidad Católica's goalkeeper Virgilio Ferrari, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Fausto Lavaque came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Cabecera fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Lavaque couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Universidad Católica's Noé Bacigalupo got a free kick in the 48th minute. 49 minutes into the match, Cabecera's Tomás Paillalef broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amado Galdames was the one to do the kick off. Amado Galdames scored 2-0 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Virgilio Ferrari, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Noé Bacigalupo during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 64th minute, Noé Bacigalupo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomás Paillalef took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 65th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Virgilio Ferrari. Universidad Católica's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Fausto Lavaque sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Amado Galdames had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Universidad Católica getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Noé Bacigalupo hit a great ball. Fausto Lavaque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Virgilio Ferrari tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vinos Llana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enric Monroy having to interfere. Fausto Lavaque recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Cabecera's Enric Monroy got control of the ball when Vinos Llana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rafael Lea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Virgilio Ferrari made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fausto Lavaque in the 91st minute of play. In the 92nd minute Amado Galdames shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgilio Ferrari saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fausto Lavaque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Cabecera's Celedonio Dagnino got a free kick in the 98th minute. Cabecera's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
