With a couple of smart ball manuevers Domingo Garbiso in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luciano Beca saved Abtao from getting behind. Nereo Monroy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Alejandro Solorzano in the 42nd minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlo Magdahl to make the kick off.
