The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Leonides Reyes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jose Maria Marquéz. Huilipatagua's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonides Reyes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Danilo Grez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Prudentio Caldera in the 7th minute of play. Danilo Grez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulín Trejo in the 8th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Prudentio Caldera dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Danilo Grez, 1-1. 14 minutes into the game, Lander Milroy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Huilipatagua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pirineos the free kick. After 14 played minutes Huilipatagua got a freekick which was hit by Lander Milroy. A collision led to Pirineos getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bairon Monckeberg hit a great ball. Prudentio Caldera struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Danilo Grez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Huilipatagua. If Prudentio Caldera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulín Trejo got free with Danilo Grez in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Prudentio Caldera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Danilo Grez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danilo Grez was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Geraldo Alamo. 27 minutes into the game, Huilipatagua's Prudentio Caldera nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Danilo Grez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Danilo Grez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulín Trejo in the 31st minute. In the 34th minute of the match Quintín Opazo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jose Maria Marquéz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Huilipatagua's Jose Maria Marquéz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Álvaro Baehr in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 36 minutes, Prudentio Caldera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Huilipatagua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Prudentio Caldera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th minute, Paulín Trejo fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 38th minute, Huilipatagua's Prudentio Caldera ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Danilo Grez. Danilo Grez yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. After 42 played minutes Pirineos got a freekick which was hit by Bairon Monckeberg. When the match clock showed 43 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Paulín Trejo sped through Pirineos's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Danilo Grez. Paulín Trejo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Grez having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.
If Prudentio Caldera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulín Trejo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Grez having to interfere. In the 58th minute Prudentio Caldera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Grez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulín Trejo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Grez having to interfere. Danilo Grez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Prudentio Caldera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Danilo Grez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prudentio Caldera, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute.
