With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tanio Bulnes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute, Celestino Irigoyen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nemesio Jorquera hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Tanio Bulnes made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Juan Alfonso Mac Iver sent off a good shot on target. Juan Alfonso Mac Iver could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Tanio Bulnes made a huge save. Nemesio Jorquera hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Mikel Yavar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Martino Oliva was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. After 30 played minutes Illapata got a freekick which was hit by Mikel Yavar. After a defensive mix-up in Illapata's zone, Juan Alfonso Mac Iver stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tanio Bulnes came out of the goal and Juan Alfonso Mac Iver tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes into the match, Illapata's goal looked a bit too open when Celestino Irigoyen came free, but Tanio Bulnes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tanio Bulnes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celestino Irigoyen in the 39th minute of the match. Martino Oliva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nemesio Jorquera in the 41st minute of play. Mikel Yavar struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Martino Oliva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Illapata. Omar Denton might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Martino Oliva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Omar Denton ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute Celestino Irigoyen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tanio Bulnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Cuenca AFC's Juan Alfonso Mac Iver sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tanio Bulnes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tanio Bulnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Alfonso Mac Iver, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. 95 minutes into the match, Juan Alfonso Mac Iver notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Illapata's Tanio Bulnes. Tanio Bulnes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. For all the effort they put into the match, the Illapata players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cuenca AFC.
