In the 5thth minute of the game Armin Palmisano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Retulemus FC's Modesto Dean was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Bartolo Luzaide had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bartolo Luzaide in the 11th minute of play forced Retulemus FC's goalkeeper Modesto Dean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Armin Palmisano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Bartolo Luzaide sped through Retulemus FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Modesto Dean. Armin Palmisano might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Modesto Dean. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Armin Palmisano ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcelino Cortazar kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Armin Palmisano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Modesto Dean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 34 minutes, Armin Palmisano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universidad de Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armin Palmisano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 36 minutes into the match, Bartolo Luzaide notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Retulemus FC's Modesto Dean. Modesto Dean was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Caupolicán Correa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Bartolo Luzaide's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Modesto Dean was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Caupolicán Correa to strike the kick off in the second half. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Universidad de Chile's Armin Palmisano in the 55th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Modesto Dean was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Retulemus FC through an amazing save. When Bartolo Luzaide came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Universidad de Chile fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bartolo Luzaide couldn't finish the play. 58 minutes into the match, Universidad de Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Caupolicán Correa came free, but Darryl Gunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 60 played minutes Retulemus FC got a freekick which was hit by Tobías Jaña. Bartolo Luzaide recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 66 minutes into the game, Armin Palmisano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Modesto Dean. Armin Palmisano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Universidad de Chile's Darryl Gunn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caupolicán Correa in the 75th minute of play. 77 minutes into the game, Universidad de Chile's Bartolo Luzaide nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Modesto Dean made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-6. In the 82nd minute, Marcelino Cortazar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Bartolo Luzaide had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 92 played minutes Universidad de Chile got a freekick which was hit by Markus Parrau. The supporters of Universidad de Chile booed when Retulemus FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Silvio Clavel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bartolo Luzaide recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Universidad de Chile's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
