The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th minute, Armin Palmisano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Armin Palmisano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ambrosio Armanet. That made the score 2-0 in the 18 minute of play. Bartolo Luzaide came free with the goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ambrosio Armanet could save by the left post. Valiente Wilson charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valiente Wilson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Universidad de Chile booed when CSD Colo Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valiente Wilson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Universidad de Chile's Bartolo Luzaide got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. CSD Colo Colo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Universidad de Chile the free kick. Ambrosio Armanet dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Miguel Nieto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Armin Palmisano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universidad de Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armin Palmisano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ambrosio Armanet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolo Luzaide, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
