The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Paco Bombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paco Bombal in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Recciuc saved Acero Cap from getting behind. Niquela's Paco Bombal got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Francisco Antonio Hollstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Simón Ascue put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jorge Pena. A collision led to Niquela getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Yoel Gandarillas hit a great ball. Niquela's Jorge Pena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simón Ascue in the 46th minute of play. Francisco Antonio Hollstein recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 48th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paco Bombal to strike the kick off in the second half. Acero Cap's Manuel Recciuc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paco Bombal in the 55th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Niquela's goalkeeper Jorge Pena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Antonio Hollstein. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Alberto Massú during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 59th match minute, Niquela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Alberto Massú to maneuver through the defense. Francisco Antonio Hollstein in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. In the 70th minute, Marín Escandón hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Acero Cap booed when Niquela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jimeno Camelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Simón Ascue came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Acero Cap fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simón Ascue couldn't finish the play. Simón Ascue received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Jorge Pena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Niquela's goalkeeper Jorge Pena, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Francisco Antonio Hollstein received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Jorge Pena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Acero Cap supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Acero Cap would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
