After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Francisco Frago managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hornillas's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Frago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tinguaro Badal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 44 minutes into the match, Balmaceda's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Frago came free, but Tinguaro Badal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Balmaceda players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Hornillas were winning 0-1.

Francisco Frago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tinguaro Badal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Tanausu Desmadryl's late challenge caught a Hornillas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tanausu Desmadryl helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Balmaceda getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Tanausu Desmadryl hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Balmaceda's zone, Francisco Frago stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tinguaro Badal came out of the goal and Francisco Frago tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute, Ruesga Echaurren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ruyman Saldías struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Tinguaro Badal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hornillas.
