The referee ignored Cartajena's protests and gave Ysmael Del Fierro a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cartajena getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Ysmael Del Fierro hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yoel Hermida got free with Salomone Novajas in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Guntademaro Jaramillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaston Urrutia having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cartajena's zone, Amador Ávila stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salomone Novajas came out of the goal and Amador Ávila tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 83rd match minute, Hilaricos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Antonucci to maneuver through the defense. Cartajena's Juan Luis Dalmazzo got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cartajena's Salomone Novajas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amador Ávila in the 90th minute of play. Guntademaro Jaramillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaston Urrutia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Luis Dalmazzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Cartajena's Guntademaro Jaramillo got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
